Music
This verse sums up what we long to see happening through our music and singing at Christ Church. Our prayer is that, as we sing songs full of God's Word, God will build us up in our faith, enable us to rejoice in the truths of the gospel, and stir us by his Holy Spirit to worship and glorify his name.
Our music on Sundays is led by contemporary bands, with the occasional hymn on the organ, and we sing songs with a range of styles and content, driven by the diversity of songs we see in Scripture. To hear a flavour of the songs we sing, you can listen to our Spotify playlist here.
There are also a number of other musical events that take place throughout the year, including:
Music Team Training - a chance for current and new musicians and sound-technicians to learn from the Bible, build musicianship, pray and try out new songs.
Songwriting - occasional times to try out new songs written by church family.
Jam Sessions - informal evening gatherings to play and socialise together.
Choirs – open to everyone to join our scratch choir at Christmas, and often for another festival during the year too.
We also are part of a wider Cambridge Music Ministry Network, joining together with musicians from other churches for Prayer & Praise evenings, instrument workshops and bigger training events.
Anchor for the Soul
In January 2020, songwriters and musicians from Christ Church had the privilege of releasing an album of 11 original songs for the church. Though written by different people over several years, they have a common thread at heart – our sure and certain hope in God’s trustworthiness, goodness and faithfulness to his people in Christ. We pray that this record might help all who hear it to confidently praise and joyfully hold on to the name of Jesus, through every season of life, as we wait for His return.
You can order, download or stream the album now.
We would be delighted for other churches to make use of these songs and have made the sheet music for each song freely available to download below.
